Register your emergency contacts with the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles
The initiating of the 'Next of Kin Bill,' HB 392, signed into law by Governor Strickland on May 1, 2008, has worked to ensure that each driver in the state of Ohio can register 2 emergency contacts (with up to 3 telephone numbers each) through the BMV to be contacted in the event of an emergency. This is a very simple procedure that took less than 3 minutes to complete online.
You can get more information by going to Next of Kin under the Other Information heading. You can also go right to the Ohio BMV web site (www.bmv.ohio.gov) and click the box that says 'Driver License & ID Card' - 'Identification Card' - 'Other Info'.
